A liturgical and learned language, not a single everyday vernacular. In East Slavic lands it absorbed local Ukrainian, Belarusian/Ruthenian, and Russian features in different recensions.

Письмо: Cyrillic (Synodal Church Slavonic azbuka)
Standardized liturgical azbuka. Several letters are positional/orthographic variants (и vs і, о vs ѡ, etc.). Numeric values use the Cyrillic numeral (titlo) system. Ukrainian sound is an approximation.
